Investment

iPut Theory (II)

So, it was buy stock and sell call for the stock you want to sell. Sell high (you think) and buy it low (or even by $0) is what I am looking for. To be more concentrate, it is wise not to follow so many stocks, but take action on them when needed. My dad has a phrase which is quite true, not every is good for stock. For some uncles and aunties, stock trading is everyday’s activities. For me, as I am lack of sleep for months, I only do when necessary; esp. market opens when everyone is sleeping in my home. When necessary… I mean when they move.

iPut Theory (I)

After reading once again message from Ken, it’s time to update my investment exploration journey. After a year or so, I wasn’t stunned by Lehman Brothers, I was just stunned by the Chinese 3G launch and of course spent the only time I had with my family’s new member, and here I am again.

Warrants and Options

As I have been trying on options for more than 2 years, I find it is a nice tool for investors who want to protect their profit, leverage the earning, gain at down market. I have mentioned about parallel trade with friends and I have read recently how commonly people use cover call to get the money from the bear market.

ADR, OTC and Pink Sheet

As I mentioned (American Depositary Receipt) ADR last time, I want to clarify further about ADR and other methods that people can buy overseas stock in US market.

Unless the stock is actually listed in US market, people actually trading the stock through some third party authority. In here I will mention ADR, (Over-The-Counter) OTC and Pink Sheet.

Why do I prefer US trading system more?

First of all, feel sad to read news about people commit suicide because of stock market. People call Accumulator as "I Kill You Later"... That's horrible. Never do things out of control and some derivatives supposed for hedging and not for betting, and if you can always think like our monetary fund (average things in terms of 6 years), then you will know recession and chance is the same thing for different people. There are ways to investment safely during high volatility and low volatility times. I am still learning and it is very interesting to share as well.

Carbon Trading

Dear all,

I think all of us have heard about Kyoto Protocol, a target for some countries to reduce greenhouse gas to a total of 50% by 2012 at 1990 standard. The protocol is in force from 2005, and these years we hear a lot about carbon trading, and I know many companies are looking for people who have this kind of knowledge. Kyoto Protocol is important not only for environmentalists but also investors who are interested in companies which may generate carbon credits.

Don't want to write as much as you can find in wikipedia, I will break things into points:

My view on China Mobile industry restructure

Hi all,

Since I have been focusing on Solar, I have not been saying much these days.
(conclusion on Solar: LDK, TSL, YGE, SOLF, STP... all are good, and PE is important to look at, e.g. 0757.HK, it is still quite good even it is doubled since its IPO.)

After very long time, Chinese mobile industry consolidation is triggered last week:
China Mobile will take China Railway Communication (fixed line)
China Unicom will merge with Netcom and release its CDMA network
China Telecom will purchase Unicom's CDMA network

Key is Solar Power II

Since long time ago, I had a chat with Ken, who told me some Japanese companies are strong in producing high efficiency solar cell. I was quite bullish about that industry but didn't know how to go further. However, from the beginning of last year, there were many Chinese Solar companies IPO in NYSE, and the noise for them was louder and louder. Well, as Paul always mentioned, you can be bullish, but you cannot trust them fully. I saw LDK tumbled 30% in one day by some auditing rumors, and it got to be very brave to put money on them.

Key is Solar Power I

Even though I said very soon, it took me some time to finish some reading before I write to you about Solar Power. I don't want to jump into those hot and volatile solar companies immediately. Instead, I want to start with some basic physics. If you just want to read the companies information which I have gathered, you then can skip this mail and wait for part II.

Is Japan dead water?

Hi all,

Since the market turmoil happened in August, things are shifted. November is also not a good month. Paul taught me one thing, when things are expected by most people, things won't happen. So I have told you individually that oil won't reach 100 eventually and it may even tumble without notice.
