some updates about the result released on the last 2 weeks:

:: <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Mobile ::

SonyEricsson (50% Sony [SNE], 50% Ericsson [ERIC])

announced on 17Jan: tripled 4Q profit, average selling price on phone is $189 USD, increased to 9% from 7% in market share

Motorola [MOT]

announced on 19Jan: -48% 4Q profit, cut 3500 jobs (from 67000 total).

Nokia [NOK]

announced on 25Jan: +19% 4Q profit, 36% market share, average selling price (ASP) 89Euro, their profit margin has increased even decrease in ASP, and will buyback 4B Euro of share.

:: IT ::

Apple [APPL]

18Jan, +24.5% 4Q profit, 21m ipod sold last quarter (~50% of revenue from ipod), however, as Apple’s 1Q prediction is lower than people expected. Also launch of iphone in 3Q may hurt ipod sales directly.

Microsoft [MSFT]

25Jan, -28 Q profit, better than people expect due to late launch of Vista. Vista and Office will be launched on Tue. However, MSFT lowered their expectation on Xbox360 sales (10%, from 12m to 11m), and restated their target for their “ipod killer”, zune

:: Chipset ::

Intel [INTC]

16Jan, -40% 4Q profit, margin dropped from 61.8% to 49.6%

AMD [AMD]

      24Jan, net loss of $1.08 per share from $0.21 per share last 4Q, due to $1.04 per share on buying ATI and $0.05 per share for employee compensation, margin from dropped from 52% to 40%.

:: Mobile Chipset ::

Texas Instrument [TXN]

      22Jan, +2% 4Q, -500 jobs, complaining low ASP on chip because of cheap mobile phones

Qualcomm [QCOM]

      24Jan, +5% 4Q, higher than expected profit prediction, amid allocated high cost on legal settlement, major one is crossed patent will Nokia which will be expired in April, unsettlement will cause Nokia not be able to make CDMA (WCDMA) phone and QCOM not be able to make GSM chipset. (up to now, there is no hint that they will settle, and probably will extend discussion until 2008)

:: Internet ::

Yahoo [YHOO]

      23Jan, -61% 4Q profit, +13% revenue, however, their advertising platform (Google AdSense killer) Panama, is going to be launched in Feb, month ahead of expected

eBay [EBAY]:

      24Jan, +24% 4Q, sales rose 29%

Those are the results of the main tech stocks I have been following. Follow, doesn’t mean I must have bought them, but to have interest to know what they do and put my own prediction on how they will do.

I think Nokia will be an eventual winner, and both Intel and AMD will fight further, and until a point that AMD launches their 4-quad chip in mid year, they will come back. About Internet, the first half probably Yahoo cannot bring what people hope for from Panama, but later in 3Q, more results could be seen from it. Mobile chipset, because of Nokia, IT would be in good sales and Qualcomm, after their troubled 2nd half last year, the turning point of this year is April settlement with Nokia. Apple has climbed their peak after CES (consumer electronic show, when they showed their 2.5G iphone) and they rely on ipod too much… MSFT, well well well…

Those are companies info, which I share, and probably not very useful for you, but that’s the latest things happened so I write.
