1997 - Eric the Captain
After the first tournament, I fitted quite comfortably in the team, scoring few goals as a left back.
I like football practise. I could practise alone anywhere. Even now, I still have a size 2 football with me (with me in Italy on business trip) at my living place. Like people like to smoke, I like to play football, it's addiction.
This enthusiasm is too obvious. Also the games in high school made me physical enough to play on full size pitch. In 97 Easter tournament, I played as left winger. Actually, I am not a natural left footer. I have strenghtened my left foot only in year 4 onwards. However, I can play with both feet comfortably at that time already.
That easter tournament was a great one, since led by Denny, we were the champion and we won the trophy. That was the first football trophy that we have, and that's still in my home.
Since then, many great players have left the team as most of them have been graduated. I could say, probably there were only 7-8 real players were left in the team. Even we still have Denny, Leslie, Raymond, Alan and Ah Hung etc. the back line was a real headache.
Rebuilding the team was a problem. My very first mission is to seek players from various places. I encourage all people to join Wednesday football practise. Compare with what I could do now, the practise is far less formal. Honest speaking, if running a full formal training on every wednesday, many people would not turn up and many people would not have enough energy to play a game.
It was my first tournament, talking to many seniour members in the team. I always say in pre-game briefing:
Today we are playing XXX, the tactis of today's game is TO WIN.
:P
(I knew that everyone would have played very hard in order to win anything. I didn't give them any direction since I knew they would have tried their best already...)
